How to add an email signature on Android

Before you begin

Gmail for Android provides a separate text-only Mobile signature. For the rich version, configure Gmail on the web and leave the mobile override empty where your account supports that behaviour.

   Choose rich or mobile text

   For a rich signature, first install SendSignatures in Gmail on a computer. For a device-specific signature, prepare a concise plain-text version.

   Open the account settings

   In the Gmail app, open the menu, scroll to Settings, then select the Google Account you want to change.

   Open Mobile signature

   Select Mobile signature, enter the text version and confirm. This signature applies only to messages sent from the Gmail app.

   Avoid overriding the rich default unnecessarily

   If you want Gmail to use the signature configured on your computer, leave the mobile signature unset where supported.

   Test from the app

   Send a new message from the Android app and confirm which signature appears. Account policies and app versions can affect the result.
